a series of short vignettes...
people I met
back in the days of Orpheus

WARP
a poem by John Eric Gulliksen

trip trip snap drip
plaster caster runs squealing from the bedroom
holding her treasure to enshrine in the toilet
and hard lecherous laughter
gives pause to grief

WARP

trapped in the web of illusion
Ultimate Ego
-this is how screwed up you are baby
and this is how screwed up your wife is-
thunk - twang
mind - a morass

WARP

Listen!
Laugh!
Listen!
Laugh!
-Know what this is?
A whole handful of these!-
with a grin like Yorick's
and I knew him too, Horatio

WARP

Man I'm hip baby
I know what's happening
just let me in...

WARP

Rolling or hopping
watch the funny freak as he splits a little
friendship to hero-worship
and then to maybe sadder things
but-
perhaps it won't happen

WARP

-this here is class, man!-
-Man here you can say
dig ME!-

WARP

walk on water
laugh a little
push, pull, manipulate
-Tyler, Texas?-
-East Afghanistan-
roll in money, baby
but don't spen any or the big E will get you

WARP

mever in my life
have I seen such a space
waltz - wham
wham - waltz

WARP
v grinning vacuosity
empty faces stare slack-jawed
give them a raspberry
WE know what's happening, don't we?
you don't turn me on

WARP

hassle
hassle
vibrate and preach
I don't understand why anyone gives a shit

WARP

over here, honey
sit down, sweetie
smile at me, dearie
smile at me
please?

WARP

rap rap rap rap rap
ramble on, man
do your thing
Unfortunately your revelations don't matter
how do you like being chief hippie?
go home, man
touch your wife's belly and be grateful

WARP

sometimes (not too often)
you meet someone nice
she could have been the girl next door
but...

WARP

head man
ass man
black man
green man
watch the funny freaks

WARP

trip trip snap drip
run around a little
plaster caster

WARP

freak

WARP

I can sell you Mickey for a dollar
John will cost you five
