TOUCH RUN HIDE
a poem by John Eric Gulliksen

touch
run
hide

O carven statue - O Waxen god
where is she now?
where is now?
what is now?
is now?

Granite chips at fingernails
that climb the spiral staircase
Search! Search! for the door
summerglad

Touch!
Feel oil sliding over friends
lying
dead

RUN! HIDE!
screams the harpy of too much wisdom
whose ages past burst upon vision
as rationality falls
shivering
gibbering

NOT ENOUGH WAS KNOWN

Within the eye of Set
lies finality

NOT ENOUGH WAS KNOWN

THE HOT KNIFE SCREAMS THROUGH MY CHEST
TEARS AT MY BRAIN

TOO LITTLE UNDERSTOOD

RAIN BLOOD!
Onward!
RAIN IRON!

Touch!
Run!
Hide!

Rain softness

In the shadow of the monolith
she sleeps
